Slowing Down in Zhuhai Chimelong: A Journey Beyond the Destination Diary | INT Beaute
"Life isn't measured by how much we accomplish, but by the moments we truly experience."
For the past few months, my days have been filled with product research, writing, managing our Shopify store, and learning something new every day.
Sometimes, I forget how important it is to simply slow down.
This trip to Zhuhai Chimelong wasn't about checking attractions off a list. It wasn't about taking the perfect photo either.
It was about spending three quiet days with my mum, enjoying each other's company, and reminding ourselves that life is much more than work.
Day 1 – A Different Pace
After arriving at Hengqin Bay Hotel, we left our luggage at the front desk and headed straight to Chimelong Spaceship Park.
Walking into the world's largest indoor theme park felt like stepping into another world.
The futuristic architecture, immersive lighting, and enormous indoor spaces made us forget the summer heat outside.
Instead of rushing from attraction to attraction, we chose to wander slowly.
Sometimes the best memories aren't created by doing more.
They're created by taking your time.

An Afternoon to Remember
One of my favourite places inside the park was the Spaceship Core Hall.
Standing beneath the glowing lights and surrounded by space-inspired designs, I couldn't help but feel like a child again.
It reminded me that curiosity doesn't disappear when we grow older.
Sometimes, we simply become too busy to notice it.

The Chimelong Show
In the evening, we watched the Chimelong Show.
The performances, music, lighting, and stage effects were spectacular, but what stayed with me wasn't only the show itself.
It was sitting beside my mum, sharing the same excitement, laughing at the same moments, and knowing that these are the memories we'll remember years from now.
Experiences become even more meaningful when shared with the people we love.

Day 2 – The Beauty of the Ocean
The next morning began with breakfast at Hengqin Bay Hotel before we entered Chimelong Ocean Kingdom.
Our first stop was the Whale Shark Aquarium.
No photograph could truly capture how breathtaking it felt to stand in front of that enormous viewing window.
Watching whale sharks glide peacefully through the water reminded me that nature has a way of slowing our thoughts.
For a few minutes, nobody was checking their phones.
Everyone simply looked.
Sometimes, that's enough.

The Penguin Pavilion quickly became another favourite.
Watching the penguins waddle across the ice made us smile without even realizing it.
Life doesn't always need extraordinary moments.
Sometimes, simple happiness is more than enough.

More Than a Theme Park
Many people visit Chimelong for its attractions.
I left remembering something different.
The conversations during breakfast.
The quiet walks back to the hotel.
The laughter while deciding what to eat for supper.
The photos we took—not because they were perfect, but because they captured a moment we wanted to remember.
Those little moments are often the ones that stay with us the longest.
What This Trip Taught Me
As someone who works in beauty every day, people often assume I'm always thinking about skincare.
The truth is...
I've come to believe that beauty begins long before we open a skincare bottle.
It's found in taking care of ourselves.
Making time for our family.
Travelling without rushing.
Laughing a little more.
Resting without guilt.
Living with gratitude.
Healthy skin may reflect how we care for ourselves.
But a beautiful life reflects who we are.
Until the Next Journey
This won't be the last Joanna Travel story.
I hope this space becomes more than a travel journal.
A place to collect meaningful moments.
A reminder to slow down.
And perhaps, an invitation for you to do the same.
Because at INT Beaute, we believe beauty isn't only something we see.
It's something we live.
See you in the next journey.
